The expected 2016 Infiniti Q30 will fit in below the famous 2015 Infiniti Q40 as being the smallest and the most inexpensive car model in the ever expanding Infiniti Q Series. Better still, the car will be a utilitarian hatchback rather than a sedan as is the case with other models in the series. It is the aim of Infiniti, to satisfy young buyers through this model and expand their production and sales of luxury cars. It is the first compact car in the Infiniti Q Series. Though the caveat has only been reviewed in concept form, production may begin early 2015 and soon after, the QX30 which will be the Q30’s crossover will be released.
According to Infiniti, this will not be your normal hatch. It is a product of a myriad of bodystyles that encompasses elements of a hatch, a crossover and a coupe. To this end, the car will be taller than a normal hatch and will be more elegant and prestigious. The car has been styled on 90 percent of the 2016 Infiniti Q30 concept as reflected on the final design.
2016 Infiniti Q30 Engine
This model will be build on the Mercedes Benz compact model platform. The Q30 will mirror a reskinned Mercedes A-Class with the crossover, QX30, mirroring GLA-Class. Both the models will sell in the US but the target is in Europe where competing cars like the aforementioned Mercedes Benz A-Class, Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series dominate.
The car will drive on a 2.0L four cylinder turbocharged engine just like the Mercedes A Class. Though diesel options will be available for fuel efficiency, only gasoline units may be received in the US. The car will be built in Infiniti Decherd Powertrain, a new plant located in Tennessee. With a 220 horsepower and 250 pound feet of torque, the car will be powerful to rival the Mercedes and BMW models that offer market competition. The fuel efficiency of the car will be about 25/34 mpg. The crossover model, the QX30, is also expected to have the same engine features.
2016 Infiniti Q30 Exterior and Interior
As earlier mentioned, the car will be a bit taller than a regular hatch. The car gets large and corporate grille which comes with a C-Pillar kink. The mirrors and the bumpers will also be larger than the previous models. It will have four doors with parking-assistance mechanisms. To stay competitive, the car will have leather interiors and enough leg space for the back seats. Current technological features will be fitted in the car’s interior and will include infotainment system, Bluetooth, climate control and many more. An 8 inch touch screen will add to the elegance of the dashboard. The interior will be an update of the previous model to produce a more elegant and luxurious design.
